Han Xin (simplified Chinese: 韩信; traditional Chinese: 韓信; pinyin: Hán Xìn; Wade–Giles: Han2Hsin4; died c.March 196 BCE[1]) was a Chinese military general and politician who served Liu Bang during the Chu–Han Contention and contributed greatly to the founding of the Han dynasty. Han Xin was named as one of the “Three Heroes of the early Han dynasty” (Chinese: 漢初三傑), along with Zhang Liang and Xiao He.
When he has not met his time, he went around the town begging for food. Sometimes he was scorned for not daring fight a butcher and asked to crawl a hooligan’s legs, he did not mind to do so. Later he met an old woman who gave him food every early morning when she went to the river for work. Several years later, he became a general thanks to his great military prowess. Afterwards he came back to the town to reward those who had helped him, even the hooligan who humiliated him.
Lord Master used this well-known example of this patience to advise his disciples to wait for their time, even though they can be humiliated in different ways. During their waiting period, the wise men have to continue building up their skills and knowledge so that they may make effective contributions when their opportunity to serve the country arrives.
