HUỆ LỰU: Also called Huệ Lưu. Huệ means clarity and insight. Lưu (Lựu) means flowing, implying that the words of the Dharma flow like water, cooling the souls of all beings. Therefore, Huệ Lựu is a person with enlightened wisdom, understanding all things in the universe, comprehending both matters and principles, both worldly and transcendent truths. Nothing can obstruct them, like water that flows everywhere and refreshes all it touches. Huệ Lựu is the title of the Master (Mr. Khùng). In the 11th installment of the Prophetic Sermon, the monk Vãi Bán Khoai said:
“Huệ Lựu wholeheartedly needs to take care,
Flowing to transmit the origin so the people understand.”
Or:
“Huệ Lựu explains the meaning in several lines,
Praying for the young and old to discuss self-cultivation.”
HUỆ TÂM: A mind that is clear, pure, and free from subtle afflictions, reserved for those who have attained ‘Tha Tâm Thông.’ The Master once said:
“Huệ Tâm opens words and conveys mysterious communication.”
(For Mr. Tham Tá Ngà)
Or:
“The mind is clear like a moonlit mirror,
Nature pure like springtime jasper water.”
(Giác Mê Tâm Kệ, Vol.4)
Huệ Tâm here is the title of the Disciple (one of the three servants who followed The Master saves everyone). At the beginning of Spring in the year of Kỷ Mão (1939), Master Ba Thận in Phú Lâm brought the phrase ‘The master is Huệ Lựu, the servant is Huệ Tâm’ to ask the Master, and He answered: ‘That is the title of a teacher and a disciple.’ For example, I am Master Tư Hòa Hảo, and he is Master Ba in Phú Lâm, nothing difficult to understand. (The Master usually referred to His disciples using ‘I’ and ‘You,’ ‘I’ and ‘Mr./Mrs.’ As for Master Ba Thận, he was a teacher of Confucian studies named Thận Trích Chú Giải Sám Giảng (1975)).
