NEAR WATERS, ONE KNOWS FISH’S CHARACTER.
NEAR MOUNTAINS, ONE KNOWS BIRDS’ SOUNDS
Verse 44, AWAKENING
Tang Quang Hien Van’s book has a sentence:
“Near water, one knows fish’s character.
Near the mountain, one recognizes the birds’ sound”
That means which person knows which group’s experience. For example, in fishery, the fisherman knows the fish’s habits of life. Similarly, in hunting, the hunter understands the bird’s chirping and living spaces. In morality, only if one seeks to learn how to practice, and stays close to their fellow believers, they can expect to grasp adequate knowledge of dogmas.

In the book by Tang Quang Hien Van, many passages are quite similar in concept:
“The long roads will reveal a horse’s power,
And Working long shows how good a person is.”
The Master also taught:
“It is only traveling a long way that one knows how far the horse can go,
In times of great danger, one will know who is the unscrupulous.”
