In addition to using bells and gongs to recite Sanskrit scriptures, the monks often danced erratically to demand high prices. Generally, all the flamboyant and loud actions during these rituals and ceremonies do not conform to Buddhist tradition but may be part of folk customs still heavily influenced by the worship of wandering spirits or reliance on sorcerers, shamans, or witches, believing that these practitioners can communicate with the invisible world or deities.

Conversely, traditional Buddhism always emphasizes the method of non-action, meaning not using troublesome rituals or outward forms to achieve liberation or help others achieve liberation or cure diseases.

In some countries, the practice of pantheon is still prevalent, which is also the source of many superstitions and beliefs that exist in ancient villages or indigenous cultures.
