It was the year 1939, when the people in Vietnam suffered from famine and hardship. In that very year, Đức Huỳnh Giáo Chủ founded His religion he called Pha tGiao Hoa Hao, aka Harmony Buddhism, after the name of His Native Commune, located at Tan Chau towhship, An Giang, now which forms part of the Phu Tan district, on the Western side of the Vam Nao river.
It was also the year when Master Huynh launched His mission from His Foundation Temple on the 18th day of the lunar month of May, the Earth Cat Year, or the Rabbit one according to the Chinese zodiac sign. beginning a new chapter in the reform of Vietnamese Buddhism and adapting the practice of his followers to the actual circumstances of the country and the world.
