SÁM GIẢNG Q. 1: 001-100
Hạ Ngươn nay đã hết đời,
Phong ba biến chuyển đổi dời gia cang.
Năm Mèo Kỷ-Mão rõ ràng,
Khắp trong trần hạ nhộn nhàng xiết chi.
Ngồi buồn Điên tỏ một khi,
Bá gia khổ-não vậy thì từ đây.
Cơ trời thế cuộc đổi xây,
Điên mới theo Thầy xuống chốn phàm-gian.
Thấy đời ly-loạn bất an,
10. Khắp trong các nước nhộn-nhàng đao binh.
Kẻ thời phụ nghĩa bố-kình,
Nguời thời trung-hiếu chẳng gìn vẹn hai.
Nên Điên khuyên-nhủ bằng nay,
Xin trong lê-thứ ngày rày tỉnh tâm.
Nào trong sách sử có lầm ở đâu.
Người khôn nghe nói càng rầu,
Người ngu nghe nói ngửa đầu cười reo.
Rồi sau sẽ thấy hùm beo,
Khắp trong bá tánh hiểm-nghèo đáng thương.
20 Điên này vưng lịnh Minh-Vương,
Với lịnh Phật đường đi xuống giảng dân.
Thấy trong bá tánh phàm trần,
Kẻ khinh người nhạo Thần Tiên quỉ tà.
Mặc ai bàn tán gần xa,
Quỉ của Phật Bà sai xuống cứu dân.
Kẻ xa thì mến đức-ân,
Làm cho người gần ganh-ghét khinh khi.
Nam mô, mô Phật từ-bi,
Miệng thì niệm Phật lòng thì tà-gian.
30 Khắp trong bá-tánh trần-hoàn,
Cùng hết xóm làng đều bỉ người Điên.
Điên nầy xưa cũng như ai,
Vào các ra đài tột bực giàu-sang.
Nghĩ suy danh-lợi chẳng màng,
Bèn lên ẩn dật lâm san tu-trì.
Nhờ Trời may mắn một khi,
Thẩn-thơ lại gặp Đức Thầy Bửu-Sơn.
Cúi đầu Điên tỏ nguồn-cơn,
Động lòng bác-ái ra ơn dạy truyền.
40 Thấy Điên tâm tánh quá thiềng,
Nội trong sáu khắc biết liền Thiên-cơ.
Chuyện nầy thôi nói sơ-sơ,
Để rộng thì giờ nói chuyện chơn-tu.
Dương-trần kẻ trí người ngu,
Ham võng ham dù danh-lợi xuê-xang.
Cờ đà đến nước bất an,
ORACL VOL. I: 001-100
The Lower Age’s world is ending,
Upheavals have disrupted the family base,
The Earth Rabbit Year is a clear case,
The whole globe is extremely agitated.
Sadly sitting, Crazy have indicated,
From now on, people will be miserable.
The world’s predestiny is rotable,
So Crazy follow Master down the lay realm.
The society is tumultous and uncalm,
All the nations bustle with arm race.
Some’s marital bond is a disgrace,
Others’ loyalty and filial piety both fail.
Thus Crazy make such a counsel,
That, from now on, you be mindful.
If a scheme is deep, so too is its woe,
History makes no mistake of that,
The shrewd, once hearing it, feel sad.
The idiot hearing it faceup guffaw.
They’ll later confront the tiger’s claw,
Abject misery will befall all earthlings,
Crazy took the order of the Bright King,
And Buddha to be a mass preacher.
All the people are seen in the world,
All ridiculing the Holy Spirits as deviant.
Despite their gossip being rampant,
I’m Buddha’s devil sent down for savior.
Faraway residents appreciate this favor,
Making those nearby jealously discard.
Namo the Compassionate Buddha,
Their lips recite, their minds are deceitful.
People from the entire world,
And all villages look down on Crazy.
This Crazy used to be like anybody,
Who led a top life of opulence.
Having thought of its impermanence,
I went in mountainous jungle practicing.
God blessing, when I was rambling,
I met the Master of the Jewel Mountain.
Bowing, I had my vows explained,
Please kindly be my master.
He saw Crazy is too genuine by character,
Within six ke, I have known Predestiny.
I’d rather be brief on this story,
Let’s spend more time on true practice.
On Earth, the shrewd and the daft coexist,
Who all crave self-interests and opulence.
The chess game has entered a turbulence,
Why not keen to practice but covetous.
The Supreme Being love the righteous,
For Loyalty, Filial and Ancestral piety.
Melancholic, I talk aimlessly,
Bloodshed soaks the whole world.
When will people be delivered?
Rooster’s Buddha will bring global peace.
This Crazy who is one of the Holy Spirits,
Descend on Six-Provinces from mountains.
The world will soon drop its curtains,
Practice for an audience with the Holy.
Rare are those who maintain integrity,
Many are so brutal as to annoy the Creator.
Worldlings are the lie fabricator,
By the Dragon Investiture, they’ll be hurt.
The world arrives at its lurch,
But, all day long, people make travesty.
The worldly’s sins never cease,
Once in the Hell, their release is hard.
Crazy talk about things near and far,
For folks to be mindful and to cultivate.
To cultivate helps bypass the Hellgate,
Free from Hell, you’ll tour the Paradise.
The world is not far from its demise,
So I write an article for them to read.
The world scene is like a firework lit,
Calmly watch who this Mad is.
Master is one and his disciples three,
We amply teach about Predestiny.
Still credulous is this Crazy,
I stay calm to see how they behave.
Some are wise, others more naive,
Till they see bloodshed, they don’t apply.
Now I pretend to be imbecile,
Like Ren Gui who used to be a prisoner.
Now some hate me, others favor,
‘Cause Crazy frankly told recent stories.
People far and wide make mockeries,
Whatever they said, I put up with.
Sadly recalling the remote myth,
In Seven Mounts, I chuckle at fake monks.
They said of luxury they aren’t fond,
But why have they coveted lay riches?
Alas! How strange are these stories,
Why do, as Buddhists, we chide each other?
At this time, I’m totally bewildered,
No matter what is trumpeted by the mass.
From the near to the far away place,
Every household’s chitchat is joyous.
This anecdote is so marvellous:
Han Xin biding his time crawls between legs.
Later, his reputation all over spreads,
As he’s frightened Xiang Yu occasionally.
SÁM GIẢNG Q. 1: 201-300
Chừng đau niệm Phật lăng-xăng,
Phật đâu chứng kịp lòng người ác-gian.
Thấy đời mê-muội lầm-than,
Ăn bạ nói càn tội-lỗi chỉn ghê.
Chữ tu không phải lời thề,
Mà không nhớ đến đặng kề Tiên-bang.
Nói nhiều trong dạ xốn-xang,
Cùng hết xóm làng tàn-ác nhiều hơn.
Thầy chùa như thể cây sơn,
Ngoài da coi chắc trong thời mối ăn. [210]
Bá gia hãy rán mà lo,
Kiếm Lão Đưa Đò nói chuyện huyền cơ.
Bấy lâu chẳng biết làm thơ,
Nay viết ít tờ trần-hạ tỉnh tâm.
Đến sau khổ-hạnh khỏi lâm,
Nhờ công tu-niệm âm-thầm quá hay.
Cá kia biếng lội khổ này mới yên.
Nhắc ra quá thảm quá phiền,
Bể khổ gần miền mà chẳng chịu tu. [300]
ORACLE VOL. I: 201-300
They hysterically pray when they fall sick,
Buddha can’t on time testify the wicked.
I see the lay’s ignorance and wretchedness,
Their sins are dreadful by profanity.
Practice is not a sworn propensity,
Why not keep it to reach the Fairy realm.
The more I talk, the more poignant I am,
As there are more of the cruel all over.
Monks resemble well-painted timber,
Inside rotten, outside it still looks good.
Shame for those monks being crooked!
They do things to spoil the Tao with fraud.
Amida Buddha is more distraught,
Angry why the monks have fooled people.
Having a life, take care for survival,
They see Hell King soon with their old ways.
The folks’ errors make them dismayed,
Thus, from Buddha I took the commission.
Many of the worldly like aggression,
Toward Crazy, they always show disdain.
Heavy-heartedly, I take to the pen,
To help the world relax and practice,
I love the mass and ask for no benefit,
Sadly, the masses are deadly blind.
Nothing gives me a bit of delight,
Time comes for people to meet the dread.
From now on, diseases are widespread,
Practice and implant Buddha in your mind.
My word illustrates the depth of the plight,
For all the people to mindfully practice.
Nowadays Crazy open the Tao for bliss,
For all folks to have a grip on the method.
Now the Fall nearly finishes its period,
When I nearly achieve all my utmost goal.
I have not yet been well-versed in moral,
How many are faithful to Crazy.
This Crazy will unchain all the lay,
Guiding them toward the Fairyland.
I don’t seek to be famous and abundant,
Only wish people get a lasting leisure.
Back to the Buddha, I often report,
Plead for Patriarch Buddha to kindly bless.
Now I reveal all from my head,
For people to understand good and bad.
The Supreme Being always commiserate,
Thus wanting you often to give alms.
Don’t crave fighting for triumph.
It won’t be wasteful if you practice keen!
The sea of sufferings has been seen,
It is best to fulfill the human obligation.
Don’t crave others’vilification,
This later will bring back sufferance.
Practice requires perseverance,
Clouds will reveal things you may see.
Don’t be cruel and aggressive,
And you will be salvaged by this savior.
Myriad discords exist in the world,
Give up selfishness to care for practice,
Ensure your sutra recital be rock solid,
And you’ll later see Buddhas, no doubt,
The globe is so aggrieved for now.
Briefly speaking, Buddha is one’s mind.
Make no mistake of my advice,
From now on, your virtue will germinate.
As too many afflictions are on the planet,
I urge you to enter the path of practice.
Your conduct hasn’t been polished,
Today shine it to make up for the past.
No matter if people are nice or harsh,
Crazy do not exaggerate with the public.
Mandarins talk with a loud rhetoric,
But their worldly minds are impure.
I write ode to relieve my displeasure,
But, strangely, many still pay no heed.
Their thinking is hard to predict,
They’re curious on my esoteric treatment.
They can’t blindfold Saints with a thin veil,
Though talking a lot, I don’t feel well.
Their practice bounces back like prawns.
They think of Buddha by nightfall,
At night, they maraud for others’ belonging.
The world has a few laughable things,
They don’t practice, but are keen to smirk.
The old people desire the pretty girl,
Not knowing what their future will be like.
They will incur tigers and leopards’ bite,
Thugs will shed their blood all over.
Genuine practicers will never be freer,
The righteous will receive an Holy protection.
The masses must take a precaution,
Seek the Ferryman to talk about mystery.
I so far haven’t known how to do poetry,
Now I write a few pages to awaken people.
Later they shouldn’t suffer from no upheaval,
Owing to their quiet yet superb practice.
The fish are lazy, will this disaster cease.
Speaking it out makes so many aggrieve,
A calamity nearing, people still hesitate.
Sám Giảng Q. I : 301 - 400
Ngọn đèn chơn lý hết lu,
Khắp trong lê-thứ ao tù từ đây.
Thấy trong thời-cuộc đổi xây,
Đời nay trở lại khác nào đời Thương.
Nhắc ra thêm ghét Trụ-Vương,
Ham mê Đắc-Kỷ là phường bội cha.
Hết gần Điên lại nói xa,
Nói cho bá-tánh biết mà người chi.
Lời lành khuyên hãy gắn-ghi.
Dương-trần phải rán tu-trì sớm khuya. [310]
Lại thêm ác thú mãng-xà, rít to.
Bá-gia ai biết thì lo,
Gác tai gièm siểm đôi co ích gì! [320]
Hết đây rồi đến dị-kỳ,
Sưu cao thuế nặng vậy thì thiết-tha.
Dân nay như thể không cha,
Chẳng ai dạy-dỗ thiệt là thảm-thương.
Thứ nầy đến thứ Minh-Vương,
Nơi chốn Phật đường mặt ngọc ủ-ê.
Cám thương trần-hạ nhiều bề,
Bởi chưng tàn-bạo khó kề Phật Tiên.
Chúng ham danh lợi điền-viên,
Ngày sau đến việc lụy-phiền suốt canh. [330]
Đến chừng có ốm có đau,
Vang mồm niệm Phật, Phật nào chứng cho.
Dương-trần tiếng nhỏ tiếng to,
Nói ngỗng nói cò đây cũng làm thinh.
Tưởng rằng thân nó là vinh,
Chẳng lo tu niệm cứ ghình với Điên.
Nói ra trong dạ chẳng yên,
Bây giờ nói chuyện cỡi thuyền khuyên dân.
Đêm ngày chẳng nại tấm thân,
Nắng mưa chẳng quản tảo-tần ai hay. [350]
Xa nhìn sương bạc mờ mờ,
Tân-An làng nọ dân nhờ bắp khoai.
Oracle Vol. I: 301 - 400
The lamp of Verity no longer fades,
The world is from now like stagnant waters.
Seeing the course of events veers,
I remember the Shang dynasty.
A recall of Zhou King stirs up my enmity,
His passion for Daji betrays his father.
I have said things from near to further.
To ensure that you know who I am.
My good word, remember by heart,
And spend day and night praying.
Don’t crave the precarious ranking,
Or you’ll find no way out thereof!
Don’t practice like an adrift boat,
Like river banks that break or fill at times.
As the scheme is deep, so too is its woe,
The schemer will face the horrid savage.
Tigers, leopards, elephants, are on a rampage,
Giant snakes, centipedes, are in droves.
One should take care once they know,
What use is it to quarrel or to argue!
After this come many strange issues,
Tax exaction is a distressing disaster.
The people are now as if they had no fathers,
Pitiably they have been taught by no one.
They need the Bright King to be born,
His sadness glooms at the porch of Buddha.
He empathizes with the world in areas,
As the cruel hardly stand by the holy spirits.
If they are drowned in fame and profits,
On encounter, they’ll incur a long depression,
If you keep reciting sutras with devotion.
It is the jewels in store for your future.
Gold or brass has not yet been ensured,
Yet, the latter world will revere the good devout.
In prayer, you should be wholesome at heart,
You must fully grasp the self-cultivating path.
What a pity for those who crave extravaganza,
As if the blind traveled through the night.
I love the world as if I more than provide,
But they keep vying with hating each other.
When they become sick and turn to Buddha,
Despite their loud prayers, no Buddha could help.
The laypeople make gossips,
Whatever they said, I will tighten our lips.
They think that gives them a glory,
Instead of practicing, they rival with Crazy.
I feel unsettled once I’ve spoken out,
Now is the exhorting boat ride I talk about.
I happily work non stop day and night,
I work really hard despite rain or sunshine.
When I attend the Cloud Dragon Assembly,
Folks shall realize who this Crazy is.
Receding the boat, I scull with a fastened paddle,
It goes upstream and reaches an isle.
From afar, I don’t know what the village is,
In fact, it is Long Khanh where few practice.
Master and Disciples pretend to be blind,
We go singing and begging for dimes.
Once seeing us, they flock over,
In half a day though, I earned no piaster.
I chuckle for the lay world at times,
I cross the river after staying overnight.
At dawn, no sooner has the market been busy,
Than do I sell drugs and sing actuality.
I wait till they have gathered in droves,
Then I make a Predestiny singing show.
At this point, the folks are unimpressed,
Sadly for them, I leave them on express.
Once far away from Hong Ngu,
Crazy travel straight to the Tan Thanh town.
At this place, I show off how to talk about,
Well-versed in the philosophy of Confucius.
Several people gather and argue with Us,
Scolding how such old ferryman knew things.
Their manners only left me with empathizing,
I have not bothered, but give them a vision.
Relaxed, I stepped back onboard,
Entering the Ca Cai rivulet, I move outward.
Looking back, I watch bluish-white clouds,
Crazy exert effort to row for a slack hour.
In distance, I see a hazy mist,
The Tan An village lives on cereal mix.
On this market, I have feigned a fish seller,
Not before too long, buyers flock together.
As soon as people have finished haggling,
Crazy happily try to make the right weighing.
Some do not agree to have a scale balance,
Yet they tip it several times without askance.
How laughable are these men and women!
Then I lecture them at great lengths.
The old man burns the midnight oil,
Will not stop till they recoil.
No sooner have they heard it than they forget it,
Rowing the boat back, I feel dispirited.
At once I feign a person with disability,
Down the Xang canal, We are a little merry.
A man who lives in a humble thatched cottage,
Yet knows morals, invites Leprose to his place.
After a while debating current and old affairs,
Leprose embarked for Chau Doc straight.
Sám Giảng Q. 1: 401-500
Đến nơi thiên-hạ còn đông,
Giả gái không chồng đi bán cau tươi.
Thấy dân ở chợ nực cười,
Xúm nhau trêu ghẹo đặng cười Gái Tơ.
Buồn đời lăng mạ ngẩn-ngơ,
Biến mất lên bờ liền giả cùi đui.
Phố phường nhiều kẻ tới lui,
Thấy kẻ Đui Cùi chẳng muốn ngó ngang.
Đời nay quý trọng người sang,
Giả ra gây lộn nói toàn tiếng Tây. [410]
Thấy người đói rách xin xu,
Ra tay cứu vớt đui mù chẳng chê.
Khỏi đây đến chỗ bộn-bề,
Rõ ràng Bến-Lức đã kề bên ghe.
Giả Người Tàn Tật đón xe,
Rồi lại nói vè ròng việc Thiên-cơ.
Hết vè rồi lại nói thơ,
Làm cho bá-tánh ngẩn-ngơ trong lòng.
Thơ vè Điên đã nói xong,
Đi luôn Ba-Cụm kẻo lòng ước-mơ. [480]
Tới đây dẹp hết vè thơ,
Giả Người Bán Mắm quá khờ quá quê.
Chợ này thiên-hạ bộn-bề,
Kẻ nhún người trề chê mắm chẳng ngon.
Bạn hàng tiếng nói quá dòn:
Giá nầy chẳng bán còn chờ chuyện chi?
Bưng thời kẻ níu người trì:
Ở đây không bán chị thì đi đâu?
Dứt lời rồi lại câu-mâu,[490]
Mắng: con đĩ chó khéo hầu làm khôn!
Muốn làm cho có người đồn,
Biến mất xác hồn cho chúng chỉn ghê.
Nói ra thêm thảm thêm thê,
Ông Lãnh dựa kề giả Bán Trầu Cau.
Bạn hàng xúm lại lao-xao:
Ông bán giá nào nói thử nghe coi?
Trầu thời kẻ móc người moi,
Còn cau bẻ giấu thấy lòi tánh tham.
Thấy già bán rẻ nó ham.
Bị thêm quê dốt nó làm thẳng tay. [500]

Oracle Vol. 1: 401-500
When I arrive, there is still a crowd,
I feign lasses to sell fresh betel nuts.
I chuckle at the towns dwellers’ conducts,
They gather to tease a Young Girl.
Sad that vilification is a shocker,
I vanish and onshore feign blind leprose.
Many people on treets come and go,
Once they see me, they turn away.
The opulent ones are adored today,
I pretend an arguer speaking French entirely.
White, Viet, Indian, Chinese, Notaries,
Once they see it, they don’t suspect.
I embark and hurriedly reverse,
I go past temples, big and small,
Downstream Nui Sap, I feign imbecile.
At a glance, my hair looks disheveled,
As if I were newly released prisoners.
Paddling, I announce far and near,
Who wants to go to the Paradise?
This is the place which devotees desire,
If I can, I’d be like a dragons up the cloud.
This is what Pureland’s order is about,
For thugs to eyewitness the Immortals.
There are slanderous people,
‘You want to make money, so you cheat.
Having heard this unkind speech,
Tears welled up, I row back to Mac Dzung.
In case of a response, I sometimes beckon,
Who has known Fairyland pathway?
I recall the story, at an old stage,
Ly Phu blamed Trong Ngu’s mishandling
“Your house has surplus monies to give,
Why aren’t you charitable toward people?”
When are you faced with an upheaval,
Will your riches guarantee your safety?
Crazy have told this and that story,
Who has woken up to put them in mind!
Compassion fades from Mac Dzung shoreline,
Upstream the boat goes back to Vam Nao.
I watch the bustling crowd,
I drop in no house but say a few phrases.
The river has a vortex flow in places,
Where disasters will occur in the latter days.
By then will a big storm arise in the bay,
A ruthless monster will devour the wicked.
Until that beast submits,
People won’t know who this Mad is.
Now I have to bear a disrepute of sleaze,
I all day preach but no one hears.
The world is like a curtain of gossamers,
Try to read Mad and Crazy’s rhapsody.
Off the rivulet break, I turn back the ferry,
Down the Cao Lanh province, I’m sadder.
Here I sing all night long over the river,
No matter whether I’m hated and scolded.
Whoever gives me money, I don’t covet it,
My vow is only to have the worldly educated.
They heard it but soon they dusted it,
No one knows who I was.
I return to Phong My straight afterward,
The boat in a go arrives at Rach Chanh.
I scull through twists and turns,
This place has only one scrupulous.
This recall makes me very nervous,
My mass love deeply touches my heart.
The Kien-Vang village is not far,
I quickly row there to find out.
This location has few houses,
But amid civilians, many are true practicers.
Once they have seen the ragged beggars,
Whether blind or not, they readily salvage.
Having left here, I come at a bustling place,
Ben Luc has already appeared for my port.
I feign an Impaired hailing a rickshaw,
Then I talk about Predestiny.
I chant rhapsody, then poetry,
This has left many of them astonished,
Rhapsody and poetry have been finished,
Then I hasten to Ba-Cum as I’ve dreamt of.
Here I don’t chant, full stop,
I feign an imbecile Salted Fish seller.
This marketplace bustle with shoppers,
Some shrug, others pout, balking at the fish.
The voices of customers are quite crisp:
“You don’t sell. What do you wait for?”
I carry it away, being pulled back and forth:
You don’t sell here, where are you going?
Having said this, they start embroiling,
They scold: ‘You bitch! Don’t outsmart us’!
In order to make the rumor contagious,
I disappear to create in them a horror.
Having said this, I feel more distraught,
At Ong Lanh, I feign Betel and Areca Peddler,
Customers gather and chatter:
What price do you want? Try and tell.
Some scoop up, others pull out, betels,
Greed shows up as they pluck and hide nuts.
They crave the old man’s price cuts,
His rusticity even emboldens the haggler.

Lòng quá thảm sầu lìa lại Vĩnh-Long.

ORACLE VOL. 1: 501 - 600
The boat and persons instantly disappear,
To showcase the talents of the Supernatural.
Very soon I anchor at Port Ben Thanh,
Two soldiers ask me for personal tax.
Master and disciples invoke a rule slack:
Begging for a waiver to the first offence.
Two of Us are from a faraway residence,
Our dire straits have caused Us to live adrift.
As soon as the soldiers have heard the grief,
They abuse Us a while, yet put Us in jail.
Their behavior causes our guts to go stale,
Boat and people vanish, unimpeded.
Instantly Crazy make a Fortune Teller faked,
I walk through the town in that capacity.
There is a practicer who merits a pity,
Crazy give him a guidance to the Pureland.
I stroll all over the Saigon domain,
I sing or chant thoroughly of Predestiny.
People don’t take it seriously,
They guess the money seeker’s poems.
Civilization rests on money fetishism,
Cunning and cruelty irk the ancient.
Whoever praise me or condescend,
I daren’t make up stories for the masses.
The city life has modernity flashes,
Crazy feign a cripple heading for Gia Dinh.
This limper is familiar with traveling,
Through the town, I go to the country.
People feel my beggings sound scary,
Unsettled by many predictions,
People make diverse suggestions,
Not sure of who is such a clairvoyant.
I depart Gia Dinh at this instant,
Phoenix Boat direct goes to Can Tho.
Here I feign the Big Dullard,
The wife crazy, her husband standing by.
From end to end, townsfolk deride,
Gathering shoppers are hilarious.
Only about ten townsfolk are virtuous,
Most are flocking to ridicule the crazy.
The wife sings songs, in a frenzy,
Her penniless husband begs for lunch.
People treat them as if they were junks,
Everyone is ready to tease them for fun.
But Crazy has social events sung,
And the actualities that ravage Europe.
I travel all over without stop,
In deep depression, I go to Vinh Long.
At a rural market, I have given a sermon,
When my Phoenix Boat goes to Ben Tre.
This market is docked on a raft shed there,
I feign a female peddler of sweet soup.
Her calling voice is on live news in a loop,
Cajoling her customers for buying,
Back and forth, old and young, bustling.
Saying this and that, all flirting around,
As soon as the sweet soups sold out,
Crazy spins a long yarn of woes to come.
I make strides after finishing my sermon,
I head for countryside, leaving the town.
Wherever I go, some smirk, others pout,
Some use swearword: a bunch of drifters!
They turn blind eyes and deaf ears,
Sometimes aboard, sometimes on land.
I travel the whole Ben Tre province,
After all poetry chants, I retrun to Tra Vinh.
Here, I contrive the singsong competing,
In drug sale, whether or not there is a buy.
I talk about things far and wide,
I blame people for having no compassion.
Seeing the destitute, they make derision,
They should ask who has made them rich.
I row to My Tho, having preached,
I urge the folks to commit to practice,
They have so far seldom noticed.
There is the Buddha descending here.
My boat returns out of rural markets,
Back for Ong Chuong, I preach to masses.
Despite weather conditions being harsh,
I scull back and forth on occasions.
Alas! People are facing tribulations!
A Paradise trip is announced ready.
Get on board if you are free,
If indebted, you stay back with the human.
There is a person styled Sir. Quan,
His name is Van Truong at the Ong shrine.
The world vision has touched my mind,
I drop in and dash into his cottage.
I are the practicers with a self-image,
What for you speak aloud for public disdain.
The host immediately said thank,
Offering five cents for Paradise ticket.
Back onboard, I row downstream ahead,
Drop in Sir Phoi’s to probe Third Elder.
I chat over the ethical matter,
Have you ever seen paddies which flew?
Asks a person who is morally shrewd.
Will you explain for me to understand.
In replying, Crazy explain:
Paddies fly into mountains for later uses.
Trước sau bày tỏ nguồn cơn,
Vì thương lê-thứ chi sờn lòng Đây.
Có người lối xóm muốn gây,
Xin sáu trái bắp liền quày xuống ghe.
Ghe Điên vốn thiệt ghe be,
Người cha đi lại thấy rầy:
– Thiệt mấy đứa nầy cãi-cọ làm chi.
Bước ra nhà nọ một khi,
Đi lên đi xuống kiếm thì xe lôi.
Gặp xe chẳng có lên ngồi,
Chạy trước đi rồi ngừng lại chỗ kia.
Xóm nầy kẻ ghét người ưa,
Ghé vào nhà nọ nhổ bừa cái răng.
Nhổ rồi lui tới lăng-xăng,
Liền bước xuống thuyền Thầy Tớ thả trôi. [700]
ORACLE VOL. 1: 601 - 700
When asked how I’ve gained my virtues,
Saying I know nothing upsets Third Elder.
Sadly, I step out of the shelter,
I fasten my oars and scull wherever.
I keep going without a stop-over,
My mouth also advertising Paradise.
A person comes down the pier for a ride,
I whisper that he will lose his life.
You don’t really have a compassionate mind:
You’ve asked twice but why didn’t you go?
For the world’s sake, I’m very distraught,
What is your fare for the journey?
Crazy say I don’t ask for many,
It’s up to you and I don’t crave much.
Crazy don’t have any greed as such,
The boat inside has been fully packed.
I, the old man, take you just for a slack,
Thus please come and sit right after here.
The man seems to have an evil idea:
I do this, how come you don’t let me in?
The condition is cool and dry in the cabin,
I have enough money to pay for you.
The cabin interior looks empty, though,
Once he has hastened in, his blood oozes.
This is how I admonish the brute,
Both boat and person vanish, without a trace.
Then up to Cho Moi I went away,
Rowing up and down, I also loudly say.
Here a bloodshed used to take place,
But no one has now been a true practicer.
Crazy has by no means sought for cents,
But the worldly are too blind to get informed.
They ask me where I’m from, I reply:
I’m from the Plow Hill of King Yao.
At this stage, I’m saddened somehow,
Quitting the boat, I try without surrender.
Then I pretend to be a Receptacle Welder,
I have scanned through the whole village.
Where I go, I tell both loss and advantage,
My house has a Five-Stringed instrument.
I still have to carry this debt for repayment,
Thus I have to do this to clear my karma.
My home suffers no shortage,
As my bag is carrying Eighty-grade silver.
Hearing this, many burst into laughter,
I’m in jail, what do you laugh at me for?
At once I depart the Cho Moi port,
Up and downstream I arrive at Ba Rang.
Few know the principle of permanence,
I drop in a shaman’s saying benighted.
From the beginning to the end, I confided,
For people’s love, my heart will never wear,
Then a querulous neighbor appears.
I ask for six corns, then return to my scull,
It is the boat which has a really bulging hull.
But, against the water stream, I row head on,
When I wield power, it runs like a cyclone.
One who goes down the pier is suspicious,
I wonder who this old man is.
His tied sculling requires a lot of energy,
The person is divine but one takes no heed.
They keep deriding disaffecting the Ancient.
The world today is as thin as a sheer screen,
I teach laity leaving off no sentence.
No matter how much time I spend,
Provided people attain their happiness.
I have pity for people in distress,
Whose joy is worn out by drudgery.
Many are wretched and solitary,
Without land to set up shelter or lodge in.
As my boat is gliding through the wind,
Suddenly I hear a distressful cry of grief.
This comes from the person of same hamlet,
Whose house was broken in and emptied up.
The patrol gods explained what was up,
That the poor has been in grievance.
Having heard so, Crazy turn back at once,
Using astrology to comfort the mundane.
Having read it, I have pros and cons explained.
Urging her not to keep her hatred,
Then I go for a walk around the hamlet.
I come to the house which pounds rice.
When I’ve entered it, I chat a while.
I meet the drug seller who also drops in:
-Dear lady, please buy a lotion to drink,
It helps you treat a variety of rhumatisms.
For usage, dilute it in pure water and warm,
Don’t mix with alcohol that affects embryo.
Two lads from the hamlet tell her what to do,
This medicine has so far been sluggish.
Their father comes to admonish:
-What is the point for you to argue?
I step out the house once through,
And I walk around to find a rickshaw.
When one pulls over, I don’t get aboard,
I let the driver run first and stop there.
In this hamlet, some hate me, others care,
I drop in a house and remove a tooth.
Having done so, back and forth I move,
Then, the team embark and drift down.
