Province number 17 in Southern Vietnam during the French colonial period. To the east, it borders Kiến Hòa and Vĩnh Bình provinces; to the west, it borders Kiến Phong (Sa Đéc); to the south, it borders Phong Dinh (Hậu Giang); to the north, it borders Định Tường. The area is 1,804 square kilometers.
