Master Huynh once stated:
“When the Heavenly Machine changes the course of the world,
Crazy follows my Master down to the lay realm.” (Oracle, Vol. 1)
(“Cơ Trời thế cuộc đổi xây,
Điên mới theo Thầy xuống chốn gian”.
(Sấm Giảng, Q.1)
Or:
“By the mid of August, I and the Master will assume the title of Mad and Crazy…” (The Mission Statement).
The Crazy also had the title Ngoc Thanh, which was the religious name of Mr. Cu Da.
To verify this, one needs to understand the life of Mr. Cu Da in seeking the Way. His real name was Nguyen Da, born in Phu Cat village, Binh Khe district, Qui Nhon province; because he passed the Bachelor exam, people called him Bachelor Da (Cu Da). From the time he passed the exam, he tirelessly spread out like a migrating bird, seeking to serve the nation and help the people, sometimes going to the North Central region, sometimes to the South in Thuc Nhieu, but wherever he went, he encountered many obstacles. Eventually, his wandering steps came to a halt in the Seven Mountain region. When he arrived here, it was at the time when Nguyen Trung Truc, after defeat in the East, retreated to hide at Hon Chong, (Kien Giang, 1862-1866).
In the Bokor lecture, he exclaimed:
“Filial piety and loyalty, two characters for worship,
Following the forest to nurture the nature, relying on the body.”
Every mountain in the Thất Sơn region bears the traces of his comings and goings. His life of cultivation and mindfulness faced many hardships and sufferings because the French troops monitored and terrorized in every way, forcing him to hide here and there.
Eventually, Mr. Cử from Phú Quốc crossed the sea to Giang Thành and then went up Tà Lơn mountain. Here, he received the Dharma transmission from the Enlightened Teacher (the spiritual essence of the Buddha Master) and was given the religious name Ngọc Thanh. In the Tà-Lơn lecture, Mr. Cử clearly stated:
“The black robe is changed to the cassock,
Changing the name and setting the title as Ngọc Thanh.”
In the Third Volume of the Prophetic Sermons, the Master wrote:
“The dusty world has been left behind,
Ngọc Thanh is the name, who dares to compete.”
Another piece of evidence is that when the Master went to Tà Lơn mountain, He brought Mr. Biện Đài along. Curious to see the worship practices there, he observed everything followed the rituals taught by the Buddha Master, where each altar only worshipped a red panel and no statues or relics existed. And in the conversation, the Master once answered the old man saying: “The way I have already gone through this in a previous life.”
