Moreover, at Ngoc Khuyet Temple, the Jade Emperor feels compassion for sentient beings in the earthly realm. Because suffering is imminent, they continue to chase after outwardly flashy beauty: worrying about decorating themselves with pure gold, makeup, fine silks… instead of early turning their minds toward goodness, to cultivate virtuous knowledge, refine their moral hearts, so that later they may escape suffering and be close to the Immortal Buddhas.
