Master Huynh Duc often referred to the words Nam-Viet instead of Viet Nam. There are some reasons we can guess that these words referred to the land that the French called Nam Ky Luc Tinh, or Cochinchina. The areas he traveled for missionary work and the documents he left behind talk about six southern provinces, as in the first volume of ‘Sam Giang,’ titled ‘Di Dao Luc Chau.’
